March 7, 2014 – The Republic Steakhouse
1 1/2 oz. orange juice
1 1/4 oz. gin
Dashes of orange bitters
Shake over ice and strain into a cocktail glass.
Sean chose Nolet’s Silver Dry gin. The Nolet family has been distilling gin since 1691 at their Schiedam, Holland distillery and make the claim of being the oldest surviving distiller in the country. They also make Ketel One vodka. Interestingly enough, Nolet’s gin is not made with juniper, the defining flavor of most gins. I found this drink to be extremely floral… like drinking a bouquet of flowers. It was bracing and would make a good summer drink. I would like to try it with a more “traditional,” piney gin to compare.
