Alexander No. 1

Alexander No. 1 (Alexandra)
1 1/2  oz. cream
1 oz. gin
3/4 oz. crème de cacao

Shake well with ice. Strain into a cocktail glass and sprinkle with nutmeg.

I have to say, I wasn’t too sure how this was going to turn out. I had heard about the standard Alexander made with brandy, but gin sounded wrong. Shows you what I know. This was really delicious. The gin (Bombay) gave the drink a floral note that didn’t come out too piney. Crème de cacao (a chocolate liqueur made with cacao beans) added a soft chocolate layer of taste that wasn’t overpowering.

I also liked the brandy snifter instead of a cocktail glass. I’ve had a lot of drinks with that glass already.
