June 26, 2014 – The Republic Steakhouse
1/2 tsp. dry vermouth (or to taste)
1 1/2 oz. gin
1 green olive with pit
Stir in a mixing glass with ice. Strain into a chilled martini glass and add olive.
Hendrick’s gin and The Republic’s very tasty goat cheese-filled olives. A true classic that lived up to its reputation. REAL martinis are made with gin, not vodka. The gin’s floral, piney bite is ever so slightly rounded off by the herbal ministrations of the vermouth. Pair that with a salty bite of olive and you’ll realize why this is such an iconic cocktail.
Distilled in very small (450 liters) batches in a remote Scottish distillery, Hendrick’s botanical signature consists of flowers, roots, fruits, and seeds and then a final infusion of rose and cucumber.
