September 18, 2014 – The Republic Steakhouse
French 68 (Charles Schumann, 1982)
1/4 oz. lemon juice
Dash sugar syrup
3/4 oz. Calvados
3/4 oz brandy
Shake first five ingredients with ice in a shaker. Strain into a Champagne flute and slowly fill with Champagne.
Calvados, Christian Brothers brandy, and Gruet Brut sparkling white wine. Finally! A drink with Calvados that is worth drinking! This cocktail has the requisite musky note from the wine along with a slight berry-cherry fruitiness and a rounder grape note from the brandy. An altogether well-balanced fancy party drink with a nice kick to it.
乾杯 (kanpai); literally “dry glass” (Japanese)
