Tropical Champagne (Charles Schumann, 1980)
Dashes lemon juice
Dashes passion fruit syrup
3/4 oz. orange juice
3/4 oz. dark rum
Shake first four ingredients with ice in a shaker. Strain into a Champagne flute and carefully fill with Champagne.
Meyer’s Original dark rum, Gruet sparkling white wine, and passion fruit pureé. I’m usually not a great fan of Champagne drinks, but this one was rather tasty. Slightly dry and not too musty. I think the passion fruit helped with that. There was just enough fruitiness to balance the drink.
