Boina Roja (Red Beret)

Boina Roja (Red Beret) 

Juice of half a lime
Dashes of grenadine
1 barspoon powdered sugar
3/4 oz. white rum
1 1/4 oz. white rum (extra aged)
Mint sprig
Stemmed cherry

Stir well over crushed ice in a small highball glass. Add squeezed lime, garnish with mint spig and cherry. May also be prepared in a shaker.

Bacardi white rum and Flor de Caña 4 year rum. This drink seems to be very similar to a Mojito, although it is less sweet and a bit more floral. The Flor de Caña was a great choice for this as the “flor” part really comes through. As with some of the other “double rum” drinks, this one is pretty strong, and probably should be limited to only two. Or not… your choice!
