February 19, 2015 – The Republic Steakhouse

1/4 oz. dry vermouth
3/4 oz. vermouth rosso
1 1/2 oz. white rum
Dash of grenadine
Stemmed cherry

Stir in a mixing glass with ice. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass and garnish with the cherry.

Bacardi white rum and Carpano Antica vermouth rosso. A variation of this cocktail is the El Presidente, which switches the proportions of vermouths and ads a little triple sec and lemon juice. When I first smelled this one, it was odd, but the taste was okay. I usually like the dry/rosso vermouth combination, but perhaps the grenadine was interferring… AGAIN. Over all the drink was bitter and had that fake cherry candy vibe to it.
