Monte Carlo Imperial
1/4 to 3/4 oz. lemon juice
1/4 oz. crème de menthe
3/4 oz. gin
Shake first three ingredients with ice in a shaker. Strain into a champagne glass and fill with Champagne.
Plymouth standard gin and Gruet sparkling white wine. Maybe it was the food I ate before tasting this drink, but I swore I could taste sauerkraut. I happen to like sauerkraut, so that wasn’t what made this cocktail less than stellar. After a few more sips, I lost the kraut perception, but nothing else really took its place. Nothing really stood out, and the combination of flavors didn’t really combine into something memorable.
