1 1/2 oz. brandy
3/4 oz. crème de menthe (white)
Stir over ice in an old-fashioned glass.
Christian Brothers brandy, Tempus Fugit crème de menthe. I expected more sting from this stinger. It is a fine drink, never the less, with a lovely balance of cool mint and warm fruit. I can definitely see myself doing this one as an after dinner drink.
I am recently enamored of the Tempus Fugit spirits line. While not distillers themselves, the TF team’s goal in life is to “source and recreate rare spirits and liqueurs from the pages of history”. Taking notes from pre-Prohibition cocktails, this fine company has dug up and provided excellent absinthes, crèmes, and other cocktail adjucts that are truly divine. Never a huge fan of crème de menth (except for a childhood fascination with the thick green liquid poured over vanilla ice cream), I tasted TF’s menthe straight and it was a revelation. I’m dying to get my hands on some of the other items on their list.
