Loftus Special (Charles Schumann, 1986)
Juice of 1 1/2 limes
Dashes of grenadine
1/4 oz. simple syrup
1/4 oz. Cherry Heering
3/4 oz. apricot brandy
3/4 oz. white rum
1 1/2 oz. dark rum
1 1/2 oz high-proof dark rum
Shake in a shaker with crushed ice. Strain into a large highball glass filled with crushed ice. Add squeezed lime wedge.
DeKuyper apricot-flavored brandy, Flor de Caña white rum, Ron Zacapa dark rum, Bacardi 151 high-proof rum. This packs a powerful punch in the same vein as a Deep-Sea Diver. This cocktail is a little fruity but not cloying. The dark rums are smooth with just a bit of bite from the 151. In all, a very strong but very drinkable libation.
