Schumann’s Gimlet (Charles Schumann, 1983)
3/4 oz. lemon juice
1 1/4 oz. Rose’s lime juice
2 oz. gin
Shake with ice in a shaker. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass.
Austin Reserve gin. The only difference I can see between Mr. Schumann’s version and the traditional Gimlet is the addition of lemon juice. I think the lemon juice adds a softer citrus note and a little more tang (Rose’s is awfully sweet). This drink seems to strengthen my opinion that one can’t go wrong with a Gimlet.
