Café San Juan (Charles Schumann, 1983)
1 1/2 oz. gold rum
1 c. strong cold coffee
Pour rum over ice in a small highball glass. Fill with coffee and stir. Twist lemon peel over drink and drop into the glass. Add sugar to taste.
Flor de Caña Anjejo Oro (aged 4 years). This seems to be a Black Maria without the Tia Maria/Kaluha, so it is less sweet. Still refreshing, with the rum adding warm caramel notes. Lemon with coffee always surprises me with it’s brightness and slight bitterness.
