God’s Child

God’s Child

1 1/2 oz. cream
1 barspoon powdered sugar
1/4 oz. amaretto
1 oz. vodka

Shake well with ice in a shaker. Strain into a cocktail glass.

DiSarono amaretto, Enchanted Rock vodka. Ah… another boozy wedding cake! Creamy, sweet but not overly so. As vodka does, it’s only contributing that alcohol bite.

Bird of Paradise

1 1/2 oz. cream
3/4 oz. crème de cacao (white)
1/4 oz. amaretto
3/4 oz. tequila

Shake well with ice in a shaker. Strain into a cocktail glass.

We went with the more neutral well tequila (I can never remember what it is) instead of my favorite Hussong’s. This is a lovely dessert drink that tasted very much like a good chocolate milk. Smooth, sweet, and creamy.

Amaretto Sour
3/4 oz. lemon juice
3/4 oz. orange juice
3/4 oz. amaretto
Stemmed cherry

Shake well over ice in a shaker. Strain into a sour glass, and garnish with the cherry.

Disaronno amaretto. I was not expecting this drink to taste so much like white wedding cake! I knew that amaretto is an almond-flavored liqueur, but I was surprised at how much almond came through. This was a bit sweet for my taste, but it was refreshing and quite good.

The name amaretto is a diminutive of the Italian amaro, which means “bitter,” referring to the distinctive flavor of the bitter almond.

Disaronno amaretto, and I just like snifters for these cream things. There’s not much to say about this. It’s amaretto and cream. It was tasty, almondy, desserty, light… in the vein of other Alexanders.
